Game on: Candidates launch robo calls within hours of Radel resignation
Candidates hoping to chase the seat formerly held by disgraced Congressman Trey Radel will have to hustle their campaigns and fundraising machines into high gear with the announcement that Gov. Rick Scott plans to hold a special election to fill Radel’s seat.
Within hours of news that Radel would step down Monday, registered Republicans had already started getting robo calls seeking to poll voters on candidate preferences.
Political newcomer Curt Clawson, a retired CEO from Bonita Springs, sent out a robo call late Monday inviting voters to a Super Bowl party. Another robo call asked if voters would prefer Paige Kreegel, Lizbeth Benacquisto, Connie Mack or Chauncey Goss.
