The best of Tim Nance-isms, a political treat

Anyone at the Collier Commission meeting or watching at home got a treat from Commissioner Tim Nance on Tuesday. Nance is known for popping off exquisite analogies or metaphors to frame debate.

On Tuesday, there were enough of these to fill a Saturday Night Live skit.

Indeed, Ross Perot may have nothing on Tim Nance. Hard to say what was better: the Nance-isms or the surprised and impressed look on rookie Commissioner Penny Taylor’s face at experiencing Nance’s gift.

Here’s some “Best of Tim Nance” quotes:

“We’re nibbling around this like it’s some sort of breakfast sausage. We’re never going to get there until someone takes a big bite.”

“It’s insane. At least get the skunk out of the box here.”

“We’ve got to solve some dangling participles here.”

“At the end of the day, you’re still not going to know the recipe for the chili because you’ve got 6 or 7 cooks in the kitchen.”

“It’s like button, button who’s got the button. You’ve got all these people trying to gin up the numbers.”
