The Watchdog City marketplace provides a system for independent journalists to distinguish themselves as practicing professionals.

As a journalist you can sell your original print, video & audio content in a secure environment while retaining and protecting your copyrights.

To participate in the Watchdog City online community as a selling journalist, you must agree to the Watchdog City Press voluntary credentialing terms and conditions that are specific to practicing journalists. You must also swear (or affirm) the oaths that follow as part of this registration process.

At Watchdog City, we ask that those who want to participate in the Watchdog City marketplace as journalists abide by standards of journalistic integrity that are among the highest in the profession.

Watchdog City journalists must agree to abide by the Watchdog City Journalists Code of Ethics, which is based on the ethical standards of the Society of Professional Journalists, the American Society of Newspaper Editors and major news organizations.

Journalists pledge to avoid conflicts of interest and political involvement and refuse gifts, favors, fees, free travel and special treatment. Journalists should avoid secondary employment or service in community organizations if they compromise journalistic integrity. Journalists pledge to disclose any unavoidable conflicts and current employment to their audience as part of story descriptions and on their online biography.

Watchdog City journalists also agree to participate in our credibility rating system and additional terms which include:

• an identity verification process,
• disclosure of work history,
• an agreement to disclose any secondary employment outside journalism when such employment can’t be avoided.

If you can’t agree to these terms then you should sign up for a blogger/reader account.

Watchdog City also provides a marketplace for bloggers seeking to sell their commentaries and their expertise via online white papers, video tutorials and “how-to” content. Bloggers/Readers don’t have to sign the code of ethics that journalists do.

Readers and Bloggers have the same account type. You can buy and consume content as a reader as well as sell your original content in the areas designated on the site for bloggers and experts.

We believe bloggers and experts should have an opportunity to profit from their efforts by selling their original content.

Readers must pledge that they will not steal the work of others and that they will not copy, redistribute, share or otherwise violate copyright laws by allowing others to read, view or consume paid content on Watchdog City without them first paying for it.

Reader/Viewer/Blogger Account Sign-Up costs a nominal fee. As a reader/viewer, you can buy content that interests you directly from the seller of that content on the site. As a blogging seller, you pay a nominal listing fee and a fee when your items sell.
